Statement for the General Public
In accordance with the Rules of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange , d.d., Ljubljana, and with Article 66 of the Securities Market Act – 1, Lek Pharmaceutical Company d. d., Verovškova 57, Ljubljana, hereby issues the following statement for the general public:
On 26. 08. 2002 at 17.00, Mr. Daniel Vasella, President and CEO of the company Novartis, and Mr. Metod Dragonja, President of the Board of Management of Lek d. d., issued a public statement that negotiations between the management bodies of the two companies on the possibility of a strategic alliance between the two companies are underway, which could or could not lead to the announcement of a takeover bid intent in the course of this week.
The Ljubljana Stock Exchange, the Securities Market Agency and the general public will be informed of the further course of events and of the decisions made by the company’s competent bodies accurately and promptly, in conformity with the valid legislation.
