New US Headquarters For Lek
Lek’s new organizational structure targets opportunities in the US market – New US headquarters established in North Carolina
Ljubljana, August 3, 2001 – The international pharmaceutical company Lek d.d. (Lek) has modified its strategy with respect to the US market. In addition to continuing its activities as a marketer of active pharmaceutical ingredients, Lek will become a direct marketer and distributor of its finished pharmaceuticals in the US market. The Lek marketing and sales team will be part of a newly established company, Lek Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
“Lek has several pharmaceutical products in development and in registration with US authorities. These products will give Lek critical mass as a marketing organization during the next few years. The precise date of the start of pharmaceutical marketing activities, however, will depend upon the timing of receipt of regulatory approvals," said Paul Kleutghen, President and CEO of Lek Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Lek’s product development activities have also expanded its line of active pharmaceutical ingredients with several new products that are currently being offered in the US.
Lek Pharmaceuticals, Inc. has recently opened its offices in Wilmington, North Carolina and has worked closely with industrial and commercial development officials at the State and Local levels. Among a number of factors considered, North Carolina offers a highly skilled, stable employment pool and favorable operating costs. In addition, the State is home to a substantial and growing number of young, mid-sized pharmaceutical and bio-tech companies that can provide Lek with a unique, local and cost effective network of future business partnerships.
