Lek's Presents for more than 1,100 Children in 14 Health Care Institutions and Foster Homes

21. 12. 2000

Ljubljana, 21 December – In this New-Year time, the pharmaceutical company Lek d.d. wishes to bring joy to the children who are the most deprived in this time of the year – the children who have to spend some time in health institutions and foster homes, and can therefore not be with their parents whenever they wish to. Lek has thus decided to organize a charity campaign started on 18 December 2000 and ending on 18 January 2001. Within this campaign Lek will give presents to more than 1,100 children from 14 health care institutions and foster homes, wishing them all the best in the year 2001 with a puppet show.

Lek people believe that those in charge of health care and foster institutions are doing their best to enrich the children’s living, and reduce the everyday monotony and possibly alleviate their pain as well. By bringing a smile to the children’s faces, Lek is implementing its mission and social responsibility. A smile and joy in the hearts of children will also be brought by means of the Palčica puppet show performed by the actress Jetta Ostan of the Ljubljana Puppet Theatre.

Within this campaign Lek will give presents to 14 institutions which will allocate the financial means received in this way to improve the quality of lives of the children taken care of.

Lek has already visited the following health care institutions and foster homes: Institution of Dr. Marjan Borštnar for children care and training in Dornava, Institution of Anton Skale in Maribor, General Hospital of Dr. Franc Derganc – Department for disabled children in Stara gora, Institutions of Matevž Langus in Radovljica and Centre for training, work and care of the Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia, Centre of Dolfka Boštjančič in Draga near Ig, and the Institute for training of the disabled young in Kamnik. Till the end of December 2000 and in the beginning of January 2001 they will also visit the Training centre of Elvira Vatovec in Strunjan, the Centre for treatment of children’s diseases in Šentvid near Stična, the Pediatric Clinic in Ljubljana, the General Hospital in Murska Sobota – children department, the Clinic for children surgery and intensive care of the Ljubljana Medical Centre, and the Maribor hospital – children department.

This New-Year charity campaign is only the first step in a long-term donation campaign which is to be continued in the year 2001, as we were told in Lek.
