Lek volunteers take part in Paralympic camp for families
At the end of August, the Sports Federation for the Disabled of Slovenia – Slovenian Paralympic Committee organized a Paralympic camp for families in Laško, where young people with disabilities and their parents could learn about various para-sports and other topics related to integration into the wider society. As their silver sponsor, we responded to their invitation and several of our associates joined the camp as volunteers.
We organized a workshop to introduce science to the camp participants in a fun and informative way, while helping to implement the individual parts of the four-day camp program. At the camp, the ŠIS – SPK Federation, in addition to presenting various para-sports, also prepared some content for parents, such as lectures by experts on the positive effects of sports on family dynamics, on coping with disability, and other topics that are an integral part of family life with people with disabilities. There was also an entertainment program for the children, and the camp concluded with a sports competition between families.
Lek, a Novartis company, supports the ŠIS – SPK Federation in various activities in the field of sports for people with disabilities, promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities in the wider society, raising public awareness of the importance of sports for improved psycho-physical well-being, and more. The Paralympic camp is all this and more.
