Lek Pharmaceuticals d.d. received this year its 15th TOP 10 Education Management Award, ranking itself once again among the ten best custodians of knowledge in Slovenia. Planet GV and the Education Management Institute Sofos bestow this award on ten companies in Slovenia, which in the previous year invested the most intensely and systematically in the education of their employees.

In the past year, Lek employees continued to take part in a large number of education and training sessions; in 2016, the access to new knowledge and skills was enabled and facilitated also by the introduction of a modern, advanced web solution »Skillsoft«, which provides a wide range of resources for personal development and learning. It enables unlimited access to all Lek associates and is available 24/7. »Skillsoft« covers a wide range of contents, from business skills and personal performance to IT skills and managerial skills; the contents are available in various forms, including on-line courses, videos, books and audio books.

In addition to this web solution, the decision was made to introduce a modern e-learning system »SELS« to be used for compulsory education and training.

»In order to improve the process and minimize disruption to regular work, Lek has decided to switch to a new e-learning system 'SELS' for compulsory education«, explained Fikret Bašanović, organisational learning and development manager at Lek, the reasons for the transformation of the education system. »As a pharmaceutical company, we are committed to quality of our products, therefore we pay a lot of attention to educate the associates with regard to quality (so called GxP training). The organisation of GxP training in the traditional way in the classroom was, due to the large number of employees who attended it annually, very complex. With the introduction of an electronic system, we have simplified and optimised the process.«

The new education system enables more efficient business operation as most employees can undertake education or training in e-form. In this way, the associates can undergo education when it best suits their work schedule, which significantly affects business performance. In 2016, 3,502 Lek employees took part in at least one form of upgrading their knowledge and skills or training; in total they had as many as 173,162 hours of education.

The TOP 10 Awards were presented as part of this year’s Organisational Learning and Development conference, which was held on 19 and 20 October 2017 in Portorož.
