18. 10. 1999

The business results of Lek Pharmaceutical and Chemical Company d.d. in the first nine months of 1999 surpass those achieved in the first half-year. In the first nine months of 1999 Lek d.d. has made sales amounting to SIT34.8 billion, which means that sales in this period were at the level of sales in 1998.

Compared to the same period of 1998, additional activities in the markets of Central and Eastern Europe (+8%), developing countries (+16%), and Western (+22%) and South-Eastern Europe (+15%) contributed to better business results in 1999. The best results were achieved in the sales of active pharmaceutical ingredients (+23%), veterinary drugs (+27%) and diagnostics (+36%).

By the end of the present year we expect Lek’s operations to meet the objectives set for the year 1999 in terms of costs and sales, thus exceeding the last year’s sales results.
