Lek ranks First on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange

8. 4. 2002

On Monday, 8 April 2002, the business daily Finance granted for the third year running awards to the company ranking highest on the Stock Exchange. The rating procedure included all the companies listed on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange in the year 2001. This recognition was given to Lek.

The aim of the selection of the highest ranking company is to poll the public opinion on listed companies. It is a unique indicator of the market development and of shareholding and ownership culture. The business daily Finance presented for the third time the Highest Ranking Company on the Stock Exchange Award.

The companies were rated by a professional commission with the following members: Mili Kus, Director of the brokerage company eBrokers, Jure Klepec of the company Medvešek Pušnik, Tomaž Klemenc of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange, Robert Kleindienst of Nova Ljubljanska Banka, and Tatjana Horvat of the newspaper Finance.

The companies were assessed not merely from the point of view of share prices, dividend payments and certain indices. The first criterion was communication with shareholders, where the commission put special emphasis on the information transparency, quality financial statements, transparent communication with shareholders and on providing timely information. Attention was paid to accuracy of the information and to their significance for shareholders.

The total number of points attainable was 500. Lek thus received 440 points, Krka 418, Luka Koper and the Mercator Business System 407 points. Gorenje with 402 points ranked fifth.

The Award granted to Lek is primarily a recognition for Lek Finances Division with Marko Dražumerič, Director, Marjan Novak, responsible for investor relations, and Sabina Dervišič, the new associate.

The strategy of investor relations management was set up 3 years ago by the Lek Finance and Corporate Communication Divisions. Ever since, it has been effectively implemented through active support and co-operation of Lek Board of Management.

The team operating in this field is relatively small, as their work is intended for a close circle of highly professional and competent individuals.

In order to inform the financial public about our achievements and plans for the future, we invited representatives of our major domestic shareholders, brokerage companies and pension fund companies to visit Lek. We presented them with our consolidated financial statements for 2001. The guests also visited the new vial production plant.

This Award is a welcome introduction to the 10th anniversary of Lek shares’ first listing on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange.
