Novartis in Slovenia’s project  Vision that introduces mixed reality technology, won the Innovation category of the Best of the Best 2021 project, with which AmCham Slovenia recognizes best  business practices that bring innovation, motivation and collaboration to  growth and progress in Slovenia. Novartis in Slovenia has thus become a superfinalist,  who will compete with the winners in the c Motivation and Collaboration  categories to win the title Best of the Best 2021 for the best practice.

The Best of the Best 2021 competition takes place in three categories, Innovation, Motivation and Collaboration. A few days ago, an online final event was held as part of the Innovation category, at which Novartis in Slovenia, Equa and Steklarna Hrastnik presented their innovative business practices. Among the presented projects, the evaluators were most convinced by the Vision project of Novartis in Slovenia, an innovative software tool that uses mixed reality technology.

»During the Covid-19 pandemic, which has completely changed our lives, Novartis in Slovenia was the first within the global Novartis group to decide to introduce mixed reality technology, which now allows us to cooperate, communicate and work on a whole new level. This year, we started developing the internal Vision software tool, with which we will be able to visualize various contents in our laboratories and manufacturing sites without the use of monitors. The information will be available at any time and exactly where we need it. Holographic visualizations will be linked to our internal databases, the flow of information will be two-way - from databases to visualizations and vice versa,« said Jure Vajs, senior Scientist from Biopharmaceutical Product Development Mengeš, who leads the project of introducing mixed reality technology in Novartis in Slovenia.

Mixed reality technology successfully combines the digital and real worlds and creates new environments and visualizations in which physical and digital objects coexist and communicate in real time. It was created in response to the limited cooperation during the pandemic and allows the associates of Novartis in Slovenia to operate in a hybrid between the real and virtual world.

»At Novartis in Slovenia, we have been continuously striving to find and implement breakthrough technological solutions. We already use mixed reality technology in many areas today, and eventually we will use it in all functions and segments of our business, from performing complex tasks in laboratories and manufacturing sites as well as in human resources and marketing functions. It is easy to use and does not require special introduction, so employees on average master it in just a few minutes and are happy to use it, as they recognize its wide usability and potential,« added Tea Vizjak Kvas from Strategic Projects.

The best among the best business practices in all three categories will be announced in December 2021.
