Pharma DataHack is a competition intended for all who love data and want to transform it into business value. The event is co-organized by Novartis in Slovenia and Axiologo. As part of the competition, participants solve data challenges that Novartis in Slovenia is facing.

The participants have the opportunity to participate in real challenges from the pharmaceutical industry, such as:

• Application development for tracking training status and progress of employees.
• Development of a tool for searching relevant web data in the development of pharmaceutical products.
• Collection, statistical evaluation and visualization of internal and external data.

• Participation in competencies development workshops.

WHAT KIND OF WORK LOAD CAN YOU EXPECT?

The participants can expect one workshop or lecture each week, meetings with mentors as needed, and work on the challenge (in groups and individually). They can divide the work in groups as they wish. For all together we anticipate 8 to 16 hours per week.

WHO CAN APPLY?

The candidates from various natural and technical fields who are interested in working in the field of data science, working with data and data prediction are invited. We welcome all individuals of different generations and with different experiences, as we strive to create interdisciplinary and diverse teams.

Expected knowledge:

• Understanding the business challenge
• Working in the virtual project team
• Data analytics
• Designing conceptual solutions

Desired knowledge:

• Application creation that supports the business process (e.g. web crawler or MS SharePoint)
• Work experience with data
• Advanced analytics (exploratory analysis, machine learning)

16 participants were selected on the basis of their academic achievement, professional experience and relevant competences.
